Injured person in Buena Vista with flyout

At 11:02 AM on Tuesday, July 22, Ambulance 4-9 and Ephrata Hospital Medic 9 were dispatched to the 5700 block of Buena Vista Road in the Buena Vista section of Salisbury Township for a pediatric traumatic injured person. \

After Ambulance 4-9 and Medic 9 both arrived on the scene and assessed the injuries, it was determined that the patient would need immediate transport to a pediatric trauma center for treatment of the injuries.\

Engine 4-9-1 was then dispatched to setup a landing zone for aeromedical helicopter SkyCare1. The landing zone was setup in a mowed hay field across from Station 4-9.\

Ambulance 4-9 and Medic 9 transported the patient the short distance to the landing zone. SkyCare1 arrived at the landing zone, and after a transfer of care, the patient was carried to the awaiting helicopter by firefighters and ambulance crew. After the patient was loaded, SkyCare1 lifted off and transported to the local pediatric trauma center.\

Units cleared the landing zone shortly before noontime.\
