At 2:40 PM on Sunday, March 22, Station 4-9 was dispatched to assist the Gap Fire Company (Station 4-2), along with mutual aid from Christiana (5-2), Kinzer (4-5), and Christiana EMS (5-2) were dispatched to the 700 block of Mount Vernon Road in Salisbury Township fore a mobile home fire. Christiana EMS was covering Ambulance 4-9 which was already committed on a medical emergency in northern Salisbury Township.\

Lancaster County 911 was stating that a camper was on fire in the woods with an exposure to a barn. Chief 4-2-2 (McGowan) arrived with a working mobile home fire. First arriving units Engine 4-9-1 and Engine 4-2-2 rapidly attacked the fire and prevented it from spreading to the barn. Addition units staged on Mount Vernon Road. The fire was placed under control at 2:55 PM, with the final units clearing the scene at 3:37PM.\

At 3:42, just as the units were backing into the station, Engine 4-9-2 was alerted to transfer to Chester County Station 35 (Wagontown) to cover their response area as they were committed on a dwelling fire on Baron’s Hill Road in West Brandywine Township. While at Station 35, crews socialized, watched the NASCAR Cup race on TV, and consumed many hot dogs and ice cream, complements of Station 35. Chester County 911 released Engine 4-9-2 at 7:33 PM.
