Utility Pole fire on Cambridge Road

On Saturday, September 6, Tropical Storm Hanna traveled through the Mid-Atlantic region. At 12:06PM, Engine 4-9-1 was dispatched to the 200 block of Cambridge Road in Salisbury Township for the utility pole on fire.\

Arriving units found a pole on fire at the fuse. Due to the danger of live wires dropping on the roadway, Station 4-9 Fire Police closed Cambridge Road between Springhead and Seldombridge Roads until PPL Electric could arrive on the scene to secure to the pole.\

Eventually the fire burnt its way through the pole, and the top of the pole dropped. After further investigation, it was found that there was no danger of a power surge feeding into the nearby church and residences, Engine 4-9-1 was released from the scene at 12:54. \

Station 4-9 Fire Police cleared the scene at 1:50 PM after PPL Electric arrived on the scene and took control of the situation.
