At 10:30 AM on Sunday, June 17th, Station 4-9 was dispatched to the 5400 block of Meadville Road in Salisbury Township for a trash fire. Upon his response, Deputy 4-9 (J. Beyer) was advised of a large woodpile on fire, with exposures to a shed, and farm machinery. Engine 4-9-1 and Tanker 4-9 responded soon afterwards.\
\
Upon arrival of 4-9 units, Deputy 4-9 assumed “Command 4-9” while Engine 4-9-1 extinguished the fire with it’s front handline. Tanker 4-9 replenished Engine 4-9-1’s water tank.\
\
It is believed that hot embers from a nearby campfire the night before landed in the woodpile, and smoldered overnight, until bursting into flames the next morning.\
\
Station 4-9 units are available at 10:51.
