Vehicle strikes utilty pole in Springville

At 4:58AM on Sunday, June 27, Station 4-9 was dispatched to the 200 block of Springville Road in the Springville section of Salisbury Township for a vehicle accident standby.\

Lancaster County Communications advised that the caller struck a utility pole with his vehicle; the pole and wires were down, and that the driver was not injured.\

Chief 4-9 (R. Gossert) arrived on the scene and confirmed a single vehicle into a utility pole with the pole severed and wires down blocking the intersection of Springville Road (Route 897) and Peters Road. Chief Gossert requested assistance from Stations 4-4 and 3-2 Fire Police. \

Station 4-9 Fire Police closed Springville Road at Elam Road, Station 3-2 Fire Police closed Springville Road at Seldombridge Road, and Station 4-4 Fire Police closed Peters Road at Snake Lane. Engine 4-9-1 was released from the scene at 5:31, as their services were no longer needed\

Representatives from PPL Electric, Frontier Communications, and Comcast Cable responded to the scene to assess the situation.\
\
At 10:13AM, the Fire Police and Squad 4-9 cleared the scene as PPL Electric personnel took control of the intersections and the detour. The intersection was reopened shortly before 2PM.
