On the evening of Monday, April 19, as part of the evening’s training, Engine 4-9-1 was dispatched in White Horse to the intersection of Cambridge Road and Old Philadelphia Pike (Route 340) for a vehicle accident standby. Upon arrival, units found a van versus a sedan with one person entrapped in each vehicle. EMS and two Rescues were requested to the scene.\
\
Aeromedical Helicopter Skycare1 was also summoned to the scene to “assist”. The “victims” were then removed from the vehicles.\
\
After SkyCare1 landed in a nearby cornfield and shut down, the helicopter was on display to emergency crews and the public alike.\
\
After the drill was complete, crews adjourned to Station 4-9 for a critique of the drill and refreshments.\
\
Thanks to SkyCare, Station 4-2, and Station 33 for participating in the evening’s drill.\
\
By participating in a drill such as this, crews are better prepared for when the “real thing” occurs.\
