At 3:05PM on Wednesday, October 1, Ambulance 4-9, Engine 4-9-1, and Ephrata Hospital Medic 3 were dispatched to the intersection of Diem and Hammond Roads in Salisbury Township for a vehicle accident.\
\
Responding units were advised by Lancaster County 911 of a two vehicle accident, and also a child struck at that location. Medic 9 (Ephrata Hospital) cleared an earlier call and responded to assist Medic 3.\
\
Units arrived on the scene to find a two vehicle accident. The child was not struck, but fell from his scooter in the roadway. As the first vehicle slowed after approaching the child, it was struck from behind by the second vehicle. Fortunately, the occupants of the vehicles were not injured. The child received minor injuries from his fall. All persons involved in the incident refused treatment and transport by Ambulance 4-9. Medic 9 and Medic 3 were both canceled as their services were not needed. Engine 4-9-1 controlled scene hazards and assisted with traffic control.\
\
The Pennsylvania State Police investigated the incident, as two tow trucks from Blue Ball Garage removed the vehicles from the scene.\
\
The final units cleared the scene at 4:20PM\
