At 7:23AM on Wednesday, October 6, Station 4-9 was dispatched to the intersection of Mount Vernon and Cains Roads in Salisbury Township for a vehicle accident. Lancaster County 911 was advising two pickup trucks involved, one leaking gasoline, both vehicles in a corn field, with one subject injured.\

Deputy 4-9 (J. Beyer) arrived on the scene confirming the report, and also advised Engine 4-9-1 to pull a line upon their arrival, as one of the trucks was beginning to burn.\

Engine 4-9-1 arrived, and deployed the handline, and also controlled other hazards. The fire was extinguished by fire extinguishers prior to the handline being placed in service.\
\
Ambulance 4-9 arrived on the scene and evaluated the subjects involved. Two persons from one truck refused treatment and transport. The second driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Due to the drivers injuries, Medic 6-12-10 was dispatched to assist Ambulance 4-9 enroute to the hospital.\

The PA State Police investigated the incident. The final units cleared the scene shortly after 8:00AM.\
