At 1:01 PM on Tuesday, March 18, Station 4-9 was dispatched to the intersection of Meetinghouse and Meadville Roads in Salisbury Township for a vehicle fire.\
\
Immediately after dispatch, the column of black smoke was visible for miles around the area. Firefighter Gossert was first arriving reporting a working tractor trailer fire. With this report, Deputy 4-9 (J. Beyer) requested the response of the next due tanker as a precaution. Tanker 3-2 from the Blue Ball Fire Company was then dispatched.\
\
Deputy 4-9 arrived on the scene and established command. Engine 4-9-1 arrived on the scene and deployed two handlines and utilized a foam additive to the water to knock the fire down, as well as the fire that had spread to a roadside fence and horse pasture. Tanker 4-9 arrived and staged behind Engine 4-9-1 and supplied Engine 1 with additional water. Engine 4-9-2 arrived and staged next to the Tanker. Fortunately, the fire was knocked down before it could reach the diesel tanks on the cab or the trailer full of crushed vehicles. Since the fire was knocked down, Tanker 3-2 was then canceled.\
\
Engine 4-9-2 and Tanker 4-9 cleared the scene a short time later. Engine 4-9-1 remained on the scene for the arrival of the State Police and a tow truck.\
\
A wrecker from Eagle Towing in East Earl arrived to remove the remains of the Mack tractor.\
\
The roadway was reopened to traffic and the remaining units cleared the scene at 2:42 PM.\
\
Fire Police from Stations 4-9 & 3-2 closed Meetinghouse Road between Meadville and Seldombridge Roads for the duration of the incident.\
