Tanker assist to Terre Hill on a 2-alarm bakery fire

On the bitterly cold morning of Monday, February 11, as the temperature hovered in the single digits, Tanker 4-9 was dispatched at 4:46am as part of the second alarm assignment to assist the Terre Hill Fire Company (Station 3-12) on a industrial building fire in the 400 block of Weaverland Valley Road in East Earl Township.\

Chief 3-12 (Weaver) arrived on the scene reporting a building well involved in fire. The building, which housed an Amish bake shop, was gutted by the fire.\

Tanker 4-9 responded at 4:59 and arrived on the scene at 5:12. The Tanker dumped two loads of water, filling up at the fill site at Sauders Mill along Route 625. Tanker 4-9 was released and returned to station shortly after 6AM. The fire appeared to be electrical in nature, and fortunately there were no injuries.\

The following companies were on the scene: Terre Hill (3-12), Blue Ball (3-2), Bowmansville (3-3), Caernarvon-Churchtown (3-4), Farmersville (3-5), Goodville (3-6), Liberty-New Holland (3-9), Martindale (3-10), Fivepointville (3-14), White Horse (4-9), Honey Brook (33), Brecknock (72), Fivepointville EMS (3-19), New Holland EMS (3-9), and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall.\

Adamstown (1-1), Brecknock (72), Witmer (4-10) and Twin Valley (69) handled the transfer assignments to cover the area while the local companies were at the fire.\
