Sunday, December 21st proved to be a steady day for the crew of Station 49.
***At 7:52 AM, Station 49 Fire & EMS, along with Medic 93-1, was dispatched to the 5700 block of Old Philadelphia Pike in Salisbury Township for a Person Struck.
Lancaster County Communications advised of an adult male that was “ran over” by a runaway horse and buggy. The fire units were cancelled due to no services required, while Ambulance 49-1 & Medic 93-1 transported the patient to a local hospital for treatment.
***At 11:32, both Engines 49-1 & 49-2, and Tanker 49 were dispatched to assist the Honey Brook Fire Company (Station 33) on a mobile home fire with possible entrapment in the 600 block of Kennedy Street in the Cambridge section of Salisbury Township.
Chief 33 (Messner) arrived with a single wide mobile home well involved in fire. Due to the number of persons involved, Ambulance 49-1 was dispatched to assist at 11:45. Station 49 fire units assisted with fire attack and overhaul, while Ambulance 49-1 stoodby on scene in case of additional injury.
***While units were at the mobile home fire, Squad 49-1 along with mutual aid & cover units were dispatched to the 500 block of Springville Road for an outbuilding fire.
Lancaster County Communications advised the responding units that Chief 49 (Gossert), who was in the area, was the caller, and was on scene with a 10X20 shed/dog kennel on fire, flames impinging on a nearby 1000 gallon propane tank.
Units arrived and quickly suppressed the flames and overhauled the structure. The fire was placed under control at 12:46PM.
Also of note, 5 dogs were rescued from the flames by Chief Gossert’s wife. Great job Amy!
