At 11:35 PM on Sunday, November 16, Station 4-9, along with mutual aid from Gap, Intercourse, and Honey Brook were dispatched to the 5800 block of Old Philadelphia Pike in Salisbury Township for a building fire.\
\
Arriving units found a 20X40 outbuilding well involved in fire. The building was a total loss. A litter of puppies inside the building succumbed to the smoke before they could be rescued. Estimated loss of the building and contents is approximately $25,000.00.\
\
With the fire knocked down and placed under control at 11:59, the mutual aid companies were released to return to thier respective stations. The cause of the fire is attributed to a heater being used to keep the animals warm on the cold night. This fire was the second fire in five days in our first due area where a heater used to keep animals warm ignited a fire. We would like to remind all residents and farmers using heaters to keep their outdoor farm animals and pets warm to use extreme caution, and make sure the heaters are away from any flammable materials.\
\
The final 4-9 units cleared the scene at 12:49 AM.\
