Car vs. Pole on Paes Road

At 11:04 PM on Thursday, October 25, Ambulance 4-9 & Engine 4-9-1 were alerted to the 5100 block of Paes Road in Salisbury Township for a motor vehicle accident. A vehicle traveling southbound missed the curve just north of Primrose Lane, and collided with a utility pole, breaking off the pole, and bring the wires down. \

The Ambulance and Engine 1 both responded within minutes. Deputy 4-9 (Beyer) arrived on location within 2 minutes of dispatch, confirming the report given by Lancaster County 911, and stated 1 patient was in a neighboring residence, to be checked out by Ambulance 4-9; also requesting the response of the local electric and telephone companies to assist in securing the damaged pole,\

Engine 4-9-1 arrived and lit up the scene, and depowered the vehicle. Ambulance 4-9 arrived in the scene and made contact with the driver of the vehicle, whom declined transport to a hospital. Ambulance 4-9 returned to station at 12:09 AM. Blue Ball Garage arrived to remove the damaged vehicle. After the vehicle was removed, Engine 4-9-1 cleared the scene at 12:26 AM.\

After units returned to station, Station 4-9 Fire Police kept Paes Road closed between Primrose Lane and Sandmine Road until the pole and wires were removed from the roadway. The Fire Police cleared the scene at 3:30 AM.\
