Small Leaves Fire on Red Hill Road

At 5:26 PM on Thursday, December 20, Station 4-9 was dispatched to Red Hill Road just north of Wanner Road in Salisbury Township for a brush fire. Engine 4-9-1 made the response shortly after dispatch, while Engine 4-9-2 & Tanker 4-9 were held in station by Chief Engineer Steinmetz who arrived on the scene shortly after dispatch, since one engine could easily handle the fire.\

Responding personnel found a ditch full of leaves burning along the roadway. The fire was extinguished with Engine 4-9-1’s front bumper line. The leaf pile was then raked and hosed down again to ensure that the fire was extinguished. All units cleared the scene at 5:54 PM.\
