Overturned Vehicle on Kauffroth Road

At 8:24 PM on Wednesday, November 28th, Ambulance 4-9 & Engine 4-9-1 were dispatched along with Gap Fire Company’s Rescue 4-2, and Ephrata Community Hospital’s Medic 9 to Kauffroth Road south of Gault Road in Salisbury Township for a vehicle accident with entrapment.\

Lancaster County 911 reported to the responding units that a car was overturned with the female occupant unable to get out. Chief Engineer 4-9 (Steinmetz) arrived on the scene with the occupant out of the vehicle. With this information, Rescue 4-2 was canceled. Deputy 4-9 (Beyer) arrived on the scene and established “Command 4-9”.\

Engine 4-9-1 arrived on the scene and lit up the accident scene with the light tower, and controlled hazards on the vehicle. Station 4-9 Fire Police shut down Kauffroth Road between Cambridge and Gault Roads for the duration of the incident. Ambulance 4-9 arrived on the scene and made contact with the driver of the vehicle, whom fortunately was not injured, and refused treatment and transportation to a hospital. Medic 9 was then also canceled, and Ambulance 4-9 cleared the scene.\

Blanks Towing from Gap arrived on the scene to remove the vehicle.\

Pennsylvania State Police investigated the accident, with the final Station 4-9 units clearing the scene at 9:00 PM.\
