Major snowstorm brings three weather related incidents

*At 9:51 AM on the morning of Saturday, December 19, Station 4-9 Fire & EMS were dispatched to the intersection of Guy and Churchtown Roads on Mount Pleasant Hill in the Mount Pleasant section of Salisbury Township for a vehicle accident.\

Responding units were advised by Lancaster County 911 of a jackknifed tractor trailer and a passenger car involved, with one person needing to be checked out. Units arrived on the scene and confirmed the report.\
\
Nulls Towing from Cochranville was summoned to the scene to remove the car from the scene, and to clear the tractor trailer from the ditch. A snow plow from Salisbury Township arrived on the scene to apply road salt to the road to make it safer for the crews to work on the scene.\
\
Both drivers refused medical treatment and transport, and after standing by briefly on the scene, Ambulance 4-9 returned to station.\
\
Nulls Towing arrived on the scene, removed the crushed sedan from the truck, and removed the tractor trailer from the ditch.\
\
A second Salisbury Township snowplow arrived on the scene to clear the roadway a second time, and hit a slick spot on the hill, and slid into a ditch.\
\
Ambulance 4-9 was called back to the scene to transport the plow driver to a local hospital from treatment of his injuries.\

The final units cleared the scene at 1:31 PM\

*After clearing the accident scene, at 1:48, Squad 4-9 and Station 4-9 Fire Police responded to the 300 block of Cambridge Road in Salisbury Township for a public service, to assist with traffic control for a milk truck that was stuck on the hill. Units cleared at 2:31PM.\

*At 3:33PM, Ambulance 4-9 was dispatched to assist Station 4-2 (Gap) on a vehicle accident at the intersection of Denlinger Road and Spring Garden Road in the Gap section of Salisbury Township. Responding units were advised of a snowmobile versus a buggy. Medic 6-12-10 (Lancaster EMS) transported the other patient to a local hospital. Unfortunately, the snowmobile driver succumbed to his injuries. Ambulance 4-9 cleared the scene at 4:42PM. We extend our condolences to the deceased’s family.\
