Tanker assist to Gap on Gap Hill

At 1:12PM on Saturday, July 18, the Gap Fire Company (Station 4-2) was dispatched to the 5500 block of Lincoln Highway (Route 30) on the Gap Hill in Salisbury Township for a brush fire. Lancaster County 911 advised the responding 4-2 units of an unattended pile of trees on fire near the woods and a building.\
\
Engine 4-2-2 arrived on the scene and deployed two handlines to extinguish the two brush piles that were on fire. Two additional tankers were then requested. This request brought Tanker 4-9 and Tanker 5-2-1 (Christiana) to the scene.\
\
Upon arriving, Tanker 4-9 staged behind Rescue 4-2 on Route 30, and supplied Engine 4-2-2 with water via a 3 inch supply line that Engine 4-2-2 dropped in the driveway. After Tanker 4-9’s load of water was pumped off, Tanker 5-2-1 then pumped off into Tanker 4-9. White Horse’s and Christiana’s firefighters then assisted the Gap firefighters in extinguishing and dismantling the piles.\
\
The situation was placed under control at 1:38PM, with the units all clearing the scene at 2:16PM. Tankers 4-9 and 5-2-1 were then refilled at the Gap Reservoir by Engine 5-2-1 before returning to their respective stations.
