Another busy evening for Station 4-9

On the evening of Tuesday, June 19th, volunteers gathered at the fire station to assemble the Ambulance fund drive envelopes and application package. We send our ambulance fund drive letter to over 5000 homes and businesses in Salisbury Township. While members and families were hard at work at the station, the first of several strong thunderstorms rolled through the area. The fund drive letters were assembled by 8:30 PM, and the volunteers were treated to Pizzas be fore heading home in the rain.\

Later that evening, at 11:54 PM, Engine 4-9-1 was dispatched to a residential fire alarm activation in the 400 block of Buchland Road. 8 minutes later, at 12:02 AM, Tanker 4-9 was dispatched to assist the Gap Fire Company at the Gap Town Clock building for a lightning strike. Fortunately, the residential fire alarm was found to be a false activation, and the lightning strike at the Town Clock was not as bad as feared. Engine 4-9-1 cleared thier call at 12:34 AM, and Tanker 4-9 cleared their call at 12:14 AM.\

Later, at 1:07 AM, Station 4-9 was dispatched for both engines and the Tanker to assist the Blue Ball Fire Company on a barn fire in the 700 block of Wallace Road in East Earl Township. All 3 units were responding within 3 minutes. Upon arrival of the first responding units they found a barn well engulfed in flames; the barn was back a very long driveway, and not visible from the road. Lost in the fire were several antique automobiles and antique trucks. The East Earl Township Police and State Police Fire Marshal are investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to be a lighting strike. Engine 4-9-2 cleared the scene at 2:23 AM, while Engine 4-9-1 and Tanker 4-9 cleared the scene at 4:31 AM.\
