At 1:17 AM on Tuesday, October 1st, Station 49 along with mutual aid, was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Churchtown Road in Salisbury Township for a dwelling fire.
Lancaster County Communications was reporting a mattress on fire inside the residence.
Units arrived with a mattress fire with some minor extension and a large volume of smoke emitting from the residence. Crews extinguished the fire, overhauled the fire area, and ventilated the residence.
The incident was placed under control at 2:09AM, with the final units clearing at 3:53 AM.
The fire was accidental in nature, caused by an electric blanket shorting out.
