On Saturday, May 17th, the Fire Company held their 48th annual Chicken Barbecue. Over 2000 chicken halves were cooked, with approximately 1200 of those being part of the full dinner offered. The dinners included a half chicken, choice of a Turkey Hill beverage, Herr’s potato chips, a baked potato, dinner roll, applesauce, and a dessert. There were also just half chickens available for those that did not desire to purchase a full dinner.\

The day started very early with the first members arriving at the station at 2:30 AM to start light the barbecue pits. The first customers were in line by 9:30AM. We are pleased to announce that all of the chicken was gone by 5:30PM.\

During the day, we had a visit from a local chicken, whom volunteered to get into Engine 4-9-2 and go for a ride around Salisbury Township. With Safety Officer Eno driving, and Firefighter S. Blank announcing the BBQ, the chicken brought from residents and passing drivers many smiles, waves, and honking of horns.\
