Buggy accident sends two to hospital

At 7:51PM on Friday, June 3, Station 4-9 Fire & EMS, along with mutual aid EMS units, was dispatched to the 6100 block of Old Philadelphia Pike in the Cains section of Salisbury Township for a vehicle accident.\

Units arrived to find a buggy on its side that was struck by a mini-van. \

The van occupants were not injured. The adult in the buggy refused medical treatment. Ambulance 4-9, with Medic 6, transported one child to a local hospital for treatment. Ambulance 5-2-1, along with Medic 9, transported a second child to the same hospital for treatment. The horse suffered a major injury and unfortunately had to be euthanized.\

The PA State Police investigated the incident. Route 340 was closed between Churchtown Road and Route 10 for the duration of the incident.\

The final units cleared the scene at 8:44PM.\
