Vehicle versus pole in Mount Airy

At 5:25 AM on Monday, April 21, Ambulance 4-9 and Engine 4-9-1 were dispatched to the intersection of Springville and Diem Roads in the Mount Airy section of Salisbury Township for a vehicle accident.\

Arriving units found a vehicle off the road at the southern end of the infamous Mt. Airy S-turns, with three occupants. A second ambulance as well as a Medic unit were requested. Ambulance 3-9-1 (New Holland) and Medic 6-12-10 (Lancaster EMS) were then dispatched to assist. Ambulance 4-9 transported one adult patient to a local hospital, and rendezvoused with Medic 6-12-10 on Route 340 enroute to the hospital. Ambulance 3-9-1 checked the second adult and a child who fortunately were not injured and refused transport to a hospital.\

The Pennsylvania State Police arrived and investigated the incident. The final units cleared the scene at 6:24 AM.\
