House fire claims two lives on Cambridge Road

At 6:24PM, on Saturday, January 9, Station 4-9, along with mutual aid units were dispatched to the 200 block of Cambridge Road in Salisbury Township for a dwelling fire.\

Lancaster County 911 advised the responding units of a house on fire with an injured person outside, unknown if anyone else was in the house.\
\
Units arrived with smoke venting from the first floor of the home. A search found a critically injured female outside, and unfortunately a deceased male inside the home. Additional resources were quickly summoned to the scene. The injured female was airlifted by SkyCare1 to a burn center where she would unfortunately succumb to her injuries.\

We wish to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased elderly couple in their time of loss.\
\
Fire Police from White Horse, Intercourse, and Blue Ball closed Cambridge Road between Springhead and Seldombridge Roads for the duration of the incident.\
\
Honey Brook Engine 33-2 set up a tanker fill site at the fire pond on Red Hill Road.\
\
Station 4-9 Ladies Auxiliary provided food and drink at the scene.\
\
Kinzer Engine 4-5-2 and Gordonville Ambulance 4-3-2 both stood by at Station 4-9 to cover the area in case any other emergencies were received. Fortunately, there were none.\
\
The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office and The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the incident.\

The final units cleared the scene at 10:52 PM
