July 27, 2024
We are pleased to announce that at 9 AM on July 27, 2024, the new Tanker 49 was placed in service.
The new Tanker 49 is a 2023 Kenworth T880 with a Cummins X15, seating for three firefighters, Hale QTWO 2,000 GPM pump, 3,000-gallon water tank, Whelen emergency lighting, and FireTech HiViz scene lights.
Also, the old 1997 tanker was sold to the Hiwassee Dam Fire Department in Murphy, Cherokee County, North Carolina. Murphy is in the western part of the state in the Blue Ridge Mountains. When a picture of the old tanker in its new home is obtained, we will be sure to post it. Thank You to Todd Lincoln at Kykor Fire Apparatus for his help in selling the old tanker.
