On the evening of Monday, May 17, crews loaded up in Engine 4-9-1 and Squad 4-9 and headed to Money Rocks County Park on Narvon Road in Salisbury Township to brush up on basic wildland firefighting techniques.
Money Rocks County Park spans 341.6 acres of woodland in the Welsh Mountains in Salisbury, East Earl, and Caernarvon Townships.
Upon arrival at the park, crews trekked into the woods and touched on topics such as tools, equipment, and proper wildland clothing. Crews then practiced creating a firebreak, which when properly made, will help in containing a fire.
After creating a fire break, crews then converged on the parking lot and practiced deploying handlines off of Squad 4-9.
