By Safety Officer Christopher Eno
January 9, 2010
At 6:24PM, on Saturday, January 9, Station 4-9, along with mutual aid units were dispatched to the 200 block of Cambridge Road in Salisbury Township for a dwelling fire.
Lancaster County 911 advised the responding units of a house on fire with an injured person outside, unknown if anyone else was in the house.
Units arrived with smoke venting from the first floor of the home. A search found a critically injured female outside, and unfortunately a deceased male inside the home. Additional resources were quickly summoned to the scene. The injured female was airlifted by SkyCare1 to a burn center where she would unfortunately succumb to her injuries.
We wish to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased elderly couple in their time of loss.
Fire Police from White Horse, Intercourse, and Blue Ball closed Cambridge Road between Springhead and Seldombridge Roads for the duration of the incident.
